At Family Promise of the Coastal Empire, we believe that home is not just a place—it is the foundation where families build hope, stability, and a future. For families experiencing homelessness, a home represents more than just four walls. It is the safety, security, and warmth that help them survive.
As we continue our mission to end family homelessness, our work is grounded in the understanding that every family deserves a place to call home. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly, offering resources, support, and connections to needy families, helping them move from crisis to self-sufficiency. In communities across Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham Counties, we collaborate with local organizations to ensure that no family faces the uncertainty of homelessness alone.
Starting January 27th, Family Promise of Coastal Empire (FPCE) turned to action, deploying our disaster relief team to Richmond Hill. Tropical storms Helene and Debby left families displaced, their homes damaged, and some of their futures uncertain. But our FPCE team is not just assessing the damage—they are bringing hope.

As we went door-to-door, speaking with families affected by the storm, we listened to stories of loss and resilience. One story stands out: a young mother, with her child in the doorway of her partially destroyed home, shared how the storm had shattered her sense of security and even displaced her father as his trailer was damaged. Before, she did not know where to go from here. Through the support of FPCE, she learned that help is on the way. The storm may have taken away some of her home, but it could not take away her hope, and at Family Promise, that is what we are all about.
As we move into February, the efforts will continue. Every day, we will work to ensure that families can find the support they need to turn their houses back into homes. We will continue to be there for families in Richmond Hill and beyond because home is where the heart is.
