Dear Family Promise of the Coastal Empire Community,
As we move into the summer months, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible support from our community. Even amidst unprecedented challenges, your resilience and steadfast belief in our mission have transformed lives, offering families the chance to regain stability and security.
The end of the school year often brings additional financial burdens, making it challenging for families to meet basic needs such as food and childcare. Moreover, living arrangements can become unstable, leaving some families without a roof over their heads.
Last year, we served 303 families, providing 130 parents and children with emergency shelter and supporting 127 individuals through our stabilization programs. Thanks to your contributions, we raised an impressive $913,097.89. These funds have been instrumental in helping families regain stability and independence.
Today, I want to share the inspiring story of one of the families we supported. Originally from Honduras, this family came to the United States on a work visa, seeking a better life. However, they became unemployed and eventually fell into homelessness due to transportation and childcare barriers. Then, they got connected to Family Promise.
The father quickly found employment, aided by a bicycle provided by Family Promise, which allowed him to commute to work. Their eldest son enrolled in school, and the mother cared for their youngest child at home to save on childcare.
The mother shared, "Family Promise gave us hope and a chance to build a better future for our children." The father added, "The support we received allowed us to stand on our own feet and work towards our dreams."
Through hard work and determination, they moved into a comfortable two-bedroom home within two months. The father's dedication paid off when he secured a more stable job, allowing them to purchase a vehicle and improve their lives. Despite challenges such as transportation and childcare, they persevered and are close to gaining citizenship. Their story is a testament to the strength and resilience of the families we serve.
The need for shelter and support becomes even more critical as we approach the warmer months. Many families are at risk of homelessness, and we must provide them with a safe and stable environment. When our community comes together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
